Inslee unveils supplemental budget proposal

OLYMPIA -- Gov. Jay Inslee has proposed additional spending to address overcrowded prisons, increasing school enrollment numbers, and other expenses, including wildfire costs.
The supplemental budget unveiled by Inslee on Tuesday has about $200 million more in spending, including $8.2 million in response to a settlement that requires the state to expand mental health services for children. The proposal comes six months after he approved a $33.6 billion two-year state budget.
Inslee warned that while the state doesn't currently face a budget shortfall, as it has for the past several years, the state's economic growth is not likely to keep up with its growing expenses by the time the state crafts the next two-year budget in 2015.
