OLYMPIA — Thurston County health officials say a man in his 50s recently died of complications from the flu.
Health Officer Dr. Rachel Wood says the man was otherwise healthy, without risk factors such as breathing trouble.
It was the second flu death of the season in the state. The first was a Tri-Cities woman early this month.
The state Health Department says there were 54 deaths in the past flu season.
The disease typically peaks in the winter and health officials say there’s time for people to be vaccinated for protection. The shots are recommended for everyone over 6 months old.
