What am I missing? You are a Boeing Machinist and you have a house worth $300,000. If Boeing builds the 777X here your house goes up about 5 percent a year or $15,000. This is costing you a cut in yearly pay of 5 percent of $90,000 or $4,500. So the net increase to Boeing Machinists is $10,500 per year. If you do not agree to the new Boeing contract, your children will not get a chance to work at Boeing, and the value of your house is certain to go down. Also, you may be out of a job. Sounds like agreeing to the new Boeing contract will make all the Machinists an extra $100,000 in just 10 years.
