Lake Stevens loses first home match in more than 20 years

LAKE STEVENS — A pivotal match at 132 pounds proved to be the deciding factor as Chase Classen edged Lake Stevens’ Jake Douglas 5-3 in overtime to lead visiting Moses Lake to a 36-29 win over the Vikings.

The loss was the first at home for Lake Stevens in more than two decades, according to Vikings head coach Brent Barnes.

The 132-pound contest saw Douglas fall to Moses Lake’s Classen in overtime 5-3 in a match that went down to the buzzer in the overtime period.

Two key matches for the Vikings were 126-pounder Michael Solar’s pin of Clayton Clark in 1 minute, 32 seconds, and Tristan Perales’ pin of Shawn Cotton in 5:02. Also Lake Stevens’ Ty Headland defeated 2013 state finalist Trey Long by a 7-2 decision at 113 pounds.
