MARYSVILLE — Two people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a fire gutted a Marysville house early Wednesday morning.
The blaze was reported at 2:39 a.m. at a home in the 13400 block of 55th Drive NE. Firefighters arrived seven minutes later, finding flames and smoke coming from the single-story house. Crews had the fire under control within 30 minutes.
Two people were home when the fire broke out. They were able to escape after being alerted by a smoke alarm. They were taken to an area hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
The damage was estimated at $350,000, Marysville Fire Marshal Tom Maloney said. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Marysville fire officials are asking people to regularly check their smoke alarms and practice fire drills.
