OAK HARBOR — Island County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a possible luring case after a man reportedly approached a 10-year-old Oak Harbor area girl on Monday.
The child told her mother that she was walking down Sawmill Road when a man driving a silver SUV asked if she wanted a ride home, undersheriff Kelly Mauck said.
The girl ran away and could hear the vehicle drive off.
The child’s mother said her daughter had been dropped off at a bus stop in the area of Taylor Road and Sawmill Road when the incident occurred, Mauck said.
The girl described the suspect as a clean-shaven man with medium to dark brown hair.
The SUV is described as having dark tinted windows on the back door and side windows with lighter tint on the front side windows.
Mauck said that people should call 911 if they see someone driving a similar vehicle and acting suspiciously.
Anyone with more information about the case is asked to contact Detective Felici at 360-678-4422 or by calling I-COM Dispatch at 360-678-6116.
