If eagle-watching is on your to-do list, this would be a good time to check that one off.
The Skagit Eagle Festival is held every Saturday and Sunday in January. Activities take place at Concrete, Rockport and Marblemount.
Rockport State Park offers a “Deep Forest and Eagle Habitat Experience” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Two young bald eagles were recently released into the wild from Rasar State Park near Concrete.
They’ll join hundreds of eagles returning to the Skagit River to feast on spawned-out salmon.
One eagle had been found on the ground under a nest; the other was caught on a barbed wire fence.
They were raised and released by the Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on San Juan Island.
Grab your binoculars, dress for an outdoor walk and don’t forget your Discover Pass.
