With extremely low snow levels, Mount Rainier National Park's sledding area is opening extremely late this year. Thanks to recent snow, park officials expect to be able to open the area on Saturday, in time for the long weekend. The sled area is near Paradise. Only soft sliding devices are allowed. Remember if you go that you'll need to carry chains in your vehicle and you'll need to leave Paradise by 4:30 p.m. to make it down before the gate closes. Click here for more information.
Mount Baker is open every day, and it has the deepest snow base in Washington state right now.
