BELLINGHAM — Detectives have arrested a Mount Vernon man who is suspected in 25 business burglaries along the Interstate 5 corridor from Arlington to Bellingham.
Police say they arrested 44-year-old Douglas Leif Jones on Tuesday at the home of an acquaintance in Bellingham.
Earlier this week, Arlington police released pictures of the man to generate tips in several burglaries there.
The burglary spree began in August and the break-ins were similar. In the Arlington cases, a large rock or brick was thrown through business windows to gain access to cash registers and merchandise inside, often in the early morning hours.
Police say they are familiar with Jones because he was previously arrested in March 2013 when he was suspected of 20 other burglaries.
Jones was booked into the Whatcom County Jail. The Arlington cases are expected to be forwarded to Snohomish County prosecutors for additional charges.
