Friday Seahawks links
In today's Herald, a look at how Russell Wilson and Peyton Manning have history that dates back to Wilson's high school days.
I asked Wilson after his press conference, and unfortunately, Manning passing camp was not like this:
Also, the Cleveland Browns' coaching hire Thursday means the Seahawks are all but assured to retain their coaching staff.
From the News Tribune, a look at Percy Harvin's return to action.
SI.com's Doug Farrar breaks down the play of Seattle's secondary.
And speaking of the secondary, one more update from the Richard Sherman story that just won't go away, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell calls Sherman "a great young man" but also says of Sherman's postgame interview, "I'm not cheering for that."
Even if you're sick and tired of Sherman news, you should get a laugh out of this video, which features little kids recreating the now-infamous postgame interview.
From TheMMQB.com, a look at Broncos DT Terrance Knighton, who will be key to Denver's run-stopping efforts.
From the same site, Peter King's preview of the Seahawks.
Also, from SI's Jim Trotter, a look at how Pete Carroll is proving "that you can win with a smile in the NFL."
Along those lines, Trotter's story made me go back to something I wrote off of a sit-down with Carroll before the 2010 season. It's kind of fun to go back and see some of the quotes knowing how things have played out, including:
"If there's anything that people don't understand, it's how you can enjoy it in the way that we do and still work really hard and be really disciplined.
"We could have never won for all of those years like we did against all the challenges had we not been extraordinarily disciplined and really focused and determined and practiced awesome, and that's what we're doing here too. I'm anxious to see it translate to the league. I like to have a good time, I like to have fun with stuff, and sometime I don't think people think that translates to the NFL. I want to show that it can."
Carroll also had a good answer to how a coach who isn't a yeller, who is considered a "player's coach" could succeed in the NFL: "For one, I decide whether they're on this football team or not."
Speaking of Carroll, ESPN has an interesting look back at his one season as the head coach of the New York Jets.
From NFL.com, reasons to root for/against both teams.
USA Today with a look at how New Jersey is feeling a bit slighted as the NFL bills this a New York Super Bowl despite the small detail that the game itself is in NJ.
Grantland.com with its postseason awards.
And finally, just for fun, a new "bad lip reading" video.
