The Boeing Co. on Thursday employed a 747-8 freighter like a giant Etch-A-Sketch, tracing the number 12 on a map of Washington.
If you don’t know the significance of the number 12 by now, well, there’s just no hope for you.
Anyhow, flying low (12,000 feet) and mostly slow (200-300 mph), the test airplane with tail number N770BA flew hundreds of miles for more than six hours and never left the state of Washington. The result is the accompanying map, courtesy of FlightAware.com.
On the way to painting the 12th Man on Eastern Washington, the 747’s pilots buzzed by Seattle and CenturyLink Field, home of the Seahawks.
The plane returned to Paine Field in Everett, where it was painted earlier this week.
