sadness, anger at video store closing
This town sold those people and that store down the river in favor of impersonal “Red Box,” faceless, soulless online corporations like Netflix and grocery conglomerates for “a few pieces of silver.” For some reason human beings, personal service, contact, caring, soul and humanity no longer matter?
We have given in to the Wal-Mart mentality that is destroying everything that really matters in Monroe (and everywhere). Cheaper is better, right? And now we have all become collectively “a little cheaper” because a town of 18,000 cheap (some, churchgoing and ‘spiritual’) people abandoned a local store and wonderful resource to save a couple dollars. I feel sad, angry, disgusted, nauseous and violated. If you want to know what is wrong with this world and the people in it, just look in the mirror.
