LYNNWOOD — Meadowdale High School will host a sale of donated prom dresses and gowns Friday to benefit a group that provides heart screenings.
More than 300 dresses, some costing as little as $25, will be available at the “Take This Dress to Heart” sale, which will support free heart screenings at the school Wednesday.
The sale is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. at the school, 6002 168th Street SW in Lynnwood. The sale will be followed by a magic show from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring Joe “Magic Man” Martinek. Admission to the magic show is $5.
All proceeds will support the nonprofit Nick of Time Foundation, which will hold the heart screening event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Appointments are available for anyone ages 14 to 24.
Registration for a screening is required. To register, go to www.nickoftimefoundation.org or email appt@nickoftimefoundation.org.
Dr. Jonathan Drezner, a UW Medicine sports medicine specialist, is medical director for the Nick of Time Foundation, which works to prevent sudden cardiac arrest among young athletes.
The dress sale and screening were organized in honor of Matthew Truax, 16, a junior at Meadowdale who died Sept. 13 of a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
