A monthlong guide to Everett fun in February

Sean Straub of Experience Everett is sharing this guide to what’s coming up in Everett this month. Look for more updates each month.

Winter can be rough. It’s dark early. And really cold out. What do you do to escape cabin fever and not end up like Jack? Here’s our go-to guide for escaping the winter doldrums.

This weekend:

Hit up Happy Hour: If you didn’t know, happy hour is never ending past 1PM in Everett. If you’re looking for cheap eats around town, check out our list here.

LES MIZ or LES MIS? We were having this debate on Monday. If you know, you should email us at events@experienceeverett.com to set the record straight. Anyway, this is the last weekend you’ll be able to catch the Village Theatre’s breathtaking production of Les Misz, (see what I did there?) and if you have yet to see it, you’ve got to go. Tickets are still available for Friday and Saturday night here.

Live music There’s always plenty of live music happening around Everett any given weekend. You can check out our event calendar for some shows we recommend or check out www.everettrock.com for a very comprehensive list of shows happening around Snohomish county.

Ice Racing: Once upon a time, motorcycle racers on the Upper Peninsula got tired of sitting around all winter waiting for the snow to melt, so they took to their bikes and started racing on ice.* This seemingly bad idea actually turned in something pretty cool and is now a real sport. Who’d a thought? Catch X-treme International Ice Racing this Friday night at Comcast Arena. Tickets start at $10 so it’s a pretty affordable night of family-friendly fun. Details here.

*This is not a true story.

Hootenanny: The Hometown Hootenanny is like the Bluegrass Festival without the sunburn and overpriced cowboy hats. Check it out this Saturday at the Historic Everett Theatre for a twangy good time. Details here.

Silvertips: Our beloved hockey team doesn’t have too many games left this season. Check them out this Sunday at 4 p.m. For other game dates, and to get your tickets, go here.

Philharmonica: If you’re not into hockey, the wonderful Everett Philharmonic Orchestra performs Mozart this Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church from 3-5 p.m. Get some culture.

Close out the weekend with a laugh. Everett Comedy Night is at Emory’s on Silver Lake in S. Everett on Sunday evening. Details and tickets here.

More February happenings:

We’d be remiss if we didn’t remind you that Valentine’s Day is one week from today. Several Everett-area eateries are offering special promotions for the big day. Details can be found here.

Check out the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters on February 16th at Comcast Arena. Tickets and info can be found here.

Schack Art Center presents it’s H’Arts Auction on Feb. 22 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena. This annual auction is a must-do for any art aficionado. Details and tickets here.

The Everett Film Festival is celebrating its 17th year! The two-day event is held at the Everett Performing Arts Center on Feb. 21-22. See the film lineup and purchase tickets here.

Trinity Lutheran College presents its Leadership Lecture Series on Feb. 25. The lecture, which focuses on Changing and Shaping Culture, features Everett’s own Lanie McMullin. McMullin is the Executive Director of Economic Development for the City of Everett and will speak on “Lessons I Have Learned: Woman in Community Leadership.” Details here.

Interested in learning how to be a better environmental steward? Green Drinks connects community members and cocktails around a cause. This month, they’ll meet Feb. 12 at Bluewater Distilling (1205 Craftsman Way) at the Everett waterfront. Details here.

Music, wine and pets… what’s not to like? SHAKAROO combines these, and other family-friendly activities, with a pet adoption fundraiser at the Everett Performing Arts Center on February 15th. Proceeds benefit the Everett Animal Shelter. Details and tickets available here.
