Something to think about relative to the lack of prison space in Snohomish County and the U.S. generally: On a per capita basis, the USA has around seven times the prison population of countries like Canada, Germany, England, Australia and France. Seven times!! This is a staggering difference that begs some questions:
Is there a disproportionate number of bad people in America … I don’t think so.
Are American streets generally safer … probably not.
Are some people in prison truly not a threat to society … probably quite a few.
Meanwhile, there was a notification in The Herald this week advising of another Level 3 sex offender moving into one of our neighborhoods.
