'Hottest Irish acoustic group' plays Edmonds
The instrumental group is on a worldwide tour and will play a concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N.
Named "the hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet" by the New York Times, Lunasa has played at the Hollywood Bowl, the Sydney Opera House in Australia and the White House. The group's promotional material describes it as being "a different breed of Irish traditional music group — one with the repertoire of lifelong traditional musicians, the intricate harmonies of a jazz combo and the energy of a rock band."
The quintet is noted for double bass and guitar-driven rhythms, original compositions mixed with material from Celtic regions and a focus on three-part harmonies played on the traditional pipes, fiddle and flute.
Tickets are $22, $27 and $32 and are available online at www.ec4arts.org or by calling 425-275-9595.
