Historian and actress Tames Alan will appear in a free program at 2 p.m. Saturday at Everett Public Library.
Alan will reveal the colorful culture of servants at Edwardian estates like Downton Abbey, including their duties, their complicated pecking order and the high jinks that made long hours of drudgery bearable. During the period that the fictional Downton Abbey takes place, half of British subjects were “in service,” Alan said.
Alan performs in costume. She studied theater and history at Willamette University in Oregon and theater at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She taught fashion history at the Art Institute of Seattle.
The event takes place in the library auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett. For more information, call 425-257-7640.
