EVERETT — A power malfunction Saturday night at an Everett sewer lift station, caused sewage to be released into Port Gardner.
Power at the station was lost at approximately 10 p.m. and was out for about an hour.
The city is working to determine how much sewage was spilled and has taken water samples for quality testing.
Signs warning people to stay out of the water have been posted at Howarth Park and Pigeon Creek beaches, and the city has notified the Snohomish County Health District and the state Departments of Health and Ecology.
