STEVENS PASS — A 32-year-old man was fatally injured Monday while skiing at Stevens Pass.
Paramedics were called to the ski resort just before 11 a.m. for an injured skier, said Mike Janasz, assistant fire chief for King County Fire District 50 in Skykomish.
There were reports that the man had hit his head on a rock while skiing in the Corona Bowl area, said resort spokesman Chris Danforth.
Ski Patrol reached the man first and used a snowmobile to transport him to the Nordic Center. There, paramedics from Skykomish and Gold Bar attempted life-saving efforts. The skier died at the scene, Janasz said.
His hometown was not released Monday.
Chelan County sheriff’s deputies also were called to investigate. No other details about the accident were immediately available.
