With the Silvertips dealing with ongoing suspension issues, they’ve called up goaltender Nik Amundrud for the remainder of the season.
The 16-year-old Amundrud, a third-round pick in the 2012 bantam draft, has had a yo-yo season, appearing at levels varying from major junior to midget AA. He was called up by Everett earlier this season because of injury problems, though he didn’t play in any games. He’s spent most of the season with the North East Wolfpack midget AA team in Saskatchewan, where he was 9-2-1 with a 2.81 goals against average.
Amundrud’s presence is required because goaltender Daniel Cotton and winger Darcy DeRoose remain suspended by the team. The duo was suspended indefinitely last week for violating team rules, and their suspensions remain indefinite. Amundrud being called up for the remainder of the season suggests those indefinite suspensions may be lasting a while longer. It also implies that Austin Lotz is going to be a busy young man the final 13 games of the regular season.
There was also Silvertips family news today as defenseman Mirco Mueller’s younger sister, Alina, and the Switzerland women’s hockey team brought home some hardware from the Olympics:
Wow what a game! Congrats to my sister and the team on bronze and thanks for making waking up at 4am worth it @Sochi2014

Finally, a reminder that Friday night’s game between Everett and Seattle at Comcast Arena is being televised, so dress appropriately.
