The WIAA released the times and locations for games in the regional round of the state basketball tournament this weekend:

Boys

4A boys regionals – Jackson vs. Stadium at Everett Community College, Friday at 8 p.m.; Arlington vs. Kentridge on Friday at Kent Meridian High School at 8 p.m.

3A boys regionals – O’Dea vs. Shorecrest at Mountlake Terrace High School on Friday at 8 p.m.; Stanwood vs. Foss at Kent Meridian High School Saturday at 4 p.m.; Mountlake Terrace vs. Wilson at Mt. Tahoma High School Saturday at 4 p.m.

1A boys regional – King’s vs. Hoquiam at Mountlake Terrace High School Friday at 6 p.m.

1B boys regional – Wilbur-Creston vs. Tulalip Heritage boys at Everett Community College Friday at 6 p.m.

Girls

4A girls regionals – Bellarmine Prep vs. Lynnwood at Everett Community College Saturay at 2 p.m.; Arlington vs. Todd Beamer at Puyallup Saturday at 2 p.m.; Edmonds-Woodway vs. Mt. Rainier at Kent Meridian High School on Saturday at 6 p.m.

3A girls regionals – Mercer Island vs. Glacier Peak at Everett Community College Saturday at 6 p.m.; Mountlake Terrace vs. Lincoln at Mt. Tahoma High School Friday at 6 p.m.

1A girls regionals – King’s girls vs. Montesano at Tumwater High School on Sat. at 6 p.m.

2B girls regionals – Napavine vs. LaConner at Everett Community College Saturday at 4 p.m.

1B girls regionals – Tulalip Heritage vs. Mary M. Knight at Tumwater Saturday at 4 p.m.

Quick thoughts:

  • Aside from Everett Community College (which obviously hosts many of the local teams), Kent Meridian and Mt. Tahoma High Schools seem to be the place to be for local hoops fans.

Saturday at Kent Meridian features Stanwood boys and Edmonds-Woodway girls in back-to-back games, while Mountlake Terrace fans might want to hurry and book a hotel in Tacoma, with the Hawks’ girls playing on Friday night and the boys Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Fun fact: it’s 52.4 miles from Mountlake Terrace High School to Mt. Tahoma High School.

  • Everett Community College is a good place to post up this weekend and catch some great local teams try to get to the Tacoma Dome.

The Friday night doubleheader features District 1/2/3 No. 1 seed Tulalip Heritage taking on Wilbur-Creston at 6 p.m., followed by District 1 No. 1 Jackson vs. Stadium at 8 p.m.

Saturday should be fun too, with the Lynnwood girls – the District 1 No. 1 seed – playing Bellarmine Prep at 2 p.m., with the LaConner girls and Napavine playing at 4 p.m. and Glacier Peak taking on Mercer Island at 6 p.m.

It’s hard to put a price on great high school basketball, but if it’s under $32 to attend the two days at Everett Community College it definitely seems worth it. I say $32, because that’s about how much money is currently in my bank account, and I would happily spend it to watch these teams play.
