Mariners cut 13 players

The Mariners marked the start of minor-league workouts Wednesday by announcing 13 cuts from their big-league camp roster, including three players who are on the 40-man major-league roster.
Left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma, where he will continue his recovery from shoulder surgery. The move means he will not accrue major-league service time while on the disabled list. Left-handed pitcher Anthony Fernandez and outfielder Julio Morban were optioned to Double-A Jackson.
The club also reassigned 10 non-roster invites to minor-league camp, including five right-handed pitchers: Jonathan Arias, Andrew Carraway, Stephen Kohlscheen, Mark Rogers and Chance Ruffin. Also reassigned were left-handed pitcher James Gillheeney, catchers John Hicks and Manny Pina, infielder Gabriel Noriega and outfielder Burt Reynolds.
