The KSER Foundation will hold “community conversations” about the future of public radio on Tuesday and March 18. At each event, there will be a presentation about successes and plans for KSER-FM (90.7) and KXIR-FM (89.9) in 2014, and a look at innovative public radio stations across the country. Then participants will be asked about their dreams for independent community radio and other services for North Puget Sound.
The Tuesday event will be at 6:45 p.m. at the Everett Public Library Auditorium. The March 18 event will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Freeland Public Library Meeting Room on Whidbey Island.

Become a lighthouse volunteer: Want to meet visitors from all over the world? Want to spend an afternoon on the waterfront enjoying one of the most beautiful views on Puget Sound? Here’s an opportunity to do both at the same time — be a volunteer at the Mukilteo Lighthouse and Gift Shop.
Volunteers are asked to spend five hours a day, once a month from April through September, at either the lighthouse or gift shop, greeting visitors and sharing the history of the lighthouse with the thousands of people who visit each year.
If this sounds like something you’d love to do, volunteer training sessions will be held at the lighthouse today at 10 a.m. and again March 15, at 1 p.m. For more information, contact Lisa Romo, at 425-374-7968.
Free tax help: More than 100 volunteers have filed 1,874 tax returns in Snohomish County on behalf of working individuals and families. The service is free and is one of the ways United Way is helping people reach and maintain financial stability.
United Way’s Free Tax Preparation Centers in Snohomish County are in Everett, Lynnwood, Marysville and Monroe. The tax sites are staffed by IRS-certified volunteers. At each site, volunteers are able to help people in English and Spanish.
And individuals who want to file their taxes themselves can use a free website set up by United Way for Snohomish County residents at t.uwsc.org/myfreetaxes_snoco.
