Seattle mammoth tusk on display at museum in March
The tusk will be the featured attraction at the museum’s “Dino Day” celebration. The museum is also inviting the public to help name the mammoth that lost its tusk, in a contest that begins Saturday.
Suggestions are welcome online at seattlemammoth.org or in-person at the museum. Submissions will be accepted through March 30 and the winners will be honored in early April. The winners will receive a free membership to the museum, a behind-the-scenes tour and a gift bag.
The tusk will be on display at the Burke Museum inside its plaster cast on weekends through March. Museum paleontologists will be on hand to answer questions about mammoths, the tusk and the last Ice Age in Seattle.
