PORTLAND, Ore. — This most expensive artwork ever sold at auction will soon be leaving the Portland Art Museum.
The Oregonian reports that Sunday April 6 is the last day to view “Three Studies of Lucian Freud” — a three-paneled painting created by Francis Bacon in 1969.
An anonymous collector — later revealed to be Elaine Wynn —paid more than $142 million for the triptych in November. The piece then headed to Portland and has been on view at the museum since Dec. 21.
