MULKITEO — With two runners on in the bottom of the eighth inning, Kamiak’s Lindsay Haub hit a game-winning, two-run double to give the Knights a 9-8 come-from-behind victory over Meadowdale in a Wesco crossover game on Thursday.
Haub’s game-winning opportunitycame after the Mavericks tacked on the go-ahead run on an errant throw to third base in the top of the eighth. With one out, the Knights’ Katie Spencer reach on a dropped third strike, and teammate Joey Blackshear reached after being hit by a pitch. Haub then lined a shot down the left-field line that gave Kamiak its third win of the season.
“(Lindsay) had quite a game,” said Knights head coach Nicole Kellar. “Overall she was 3-for-4 and she’s had five doubles in our two games this week, so yeah she’s definitely had quite the week for us.”
Kamiak starting pitcher Jess Lambourn added to Haub’s performance by earning the complete-game victory. She was aided by clutch defense and a home run of her own — her first of the season.
“Jess has pitched really well since the beginning of the season,” Kellar said. “She does a great job for us and does a great job of getting us back into games like this. She allowed those five runs in the third and got up to bat later in the inning and hit a really long shot over the center-field wall.”
