MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in an apartment early Saturday, police said.
The man’s roommate, also 20, was arrested shortly after the incident and booked for investigation of second-degree murder, police said.
The killing was the second fatal stabbing in south Snohomish County in less than 24 hours. A man was fatally stabbed in the parking lot of an Edmonds grocery store at about 6 a.m. Friday, police said. A man and a woman were arrested in connection with that crime. As in the Mountlake Terrace case, it’s believed those arrested knew the victim.
In Mountlake Terrace, police received a call at 1:48 a.m. from another roommate, a woman, who was locked in her bedroom. She said one of her roommates had stabbed the other.
The group lived in an apartment at 6300 St. Albion Way.
Shortly after, “911 dispatch got a call from a guy who said he had just killed his best friend,” Mountlake Terrace Police Cmdr. Doug Hansen said. “He had run from the apartment, he was just a short distance away. He waited for police to arrive.”
The man was arrested without incident. Emergency personnel who responded to the apartment found the roommate dead from multiple stab wounds. His name was not released Saturday.
The Edmonds incident on Friday took place outside the Westgate QFC in the 22800 block of 100th Avenue W.
