Two new Habitat homes in Marysville: Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County volunteers took a break from their work March 29 to celebrate the ceremonial ground-breaking on the next two Altena Gardens homes in Marysville. The first home was completed early last year and the organization hopes to complete the next two homes by the end of 2014. The families who will be moving into these homes were present and excited to see the foundations already poured, staff with Habitat said.

“Home dedications are always a wonderful celebration, but this one is really special,” said Guinn Rogers, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County. “We have four families waiting to move into their forever homes at the Altena Gardens Community. Our board, staff and volunteers are very excited to complete these builds.”

Family members, Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County board members and staff accepted a $5,000 donation from Wells Fargo Bank district manager Rakhi Samant at the ceremony. The Altena Gardens development also is made possible through grants from the Snohomish County HUD HOME Program, Home Street Bank, Intermec Corp, Tulalip Tribes Charitable Contributions and the Windermere Foundation.

Additional funding is being sought through local, corporate and individual contributions and raised through income at the Habitat Store in Everett. For information on how to help, call 425-258-6289 or email mchua@habitatsnohomish.org.
