Hunt: Kids can dash, splash for eggs: Kids ages 4 to 17 are invited to work for their treats at a special Easter 1k fun run Saturday at Bottega Fitness Park, 16720 Highway 9, Snohomish. The event is hosted by the Snohomish Boys &Girls Club.
During the race, kids will pick up an Easter egg at each check point. The first run will begin at 9 a.m., with races continuing in waves every 30 minutes after that. Meanwhile, kids can splash and dive to find eggs at the Easter Egg Splash, 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the Mill Creek Family YMCA, 13723 Puget Park Drive. Return eggs to the Easter bunny in exchange for prizes, up to two eggs. Under age 7 needs adult in the water.
Register ahead of time if you can and arrive early to check in. Cost is $5 facility members, $10 program members. Call 425-224-8037.

Purr: Kitty baby shower on Camano: CASA, the Camano Animal Shelter Association, plans its annual Little Whiskers Open House for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 19 at 198 Can Ku Road, Camano Island.
Little Whiskers Open House is a baby shower for the kittens that annually flood the shelter during “kitten season.” Guests are encouraged to bring kitten-specific wet or dry food, KMR Kitten Milk Replacement formula, kitten feeding bottles or provide a monetary donation. Stop in at the shelter, learn about kitten fostering, meet adoptable cats and dogs, and enter a raffle.

Plant: Kids can learn to garden in Edmonds: Edmonds Floretum Garden Club hosts its final Saturday Workshop of the season, 10 a.m.-noon April 19, and this time it is for kids ages 7-12. “Introduction to Gardening for Kids” will be taught by Growing Groceries mentor Tess Cayou, horticulturist Janice Noe, and Farmer Frog’s Matt Erwin, garden lead at the Olivia Park school garden.
Kids will learn about planting seeds and garden basics. Everyone will get to plant something to take home. The workshop — which is co-sponsored by the Edmonds Parks and Recreation Department, the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club, and Farmer Frog — will be held at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds. The event is free, but registration is requested.

Volunteer: Help domestic abuse victims: Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County offers a five-week community education and volunteer training series, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, April 21-May 19, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 28, in downtown Everett.
The classes are free to participants willing to commit 10 hours of volunteer time within a six-month period. The nonprofit provides services to victims of domestic abuse.
Class topics include an overview and history of domestic violence, its effects on children, safety planning, legal advocacy and other topics. Light snacks and breaks provided.
