Your readers should be aware of a local soil testing resource in Burlington as opposed to the Ohio source that was suggested in an article from the Akron Beacon Journal, republished in the Herald on Thursday. (“Time to test your soil.”) We have a professional company right in our midst, Simply Soil Testing Co., and I have been very pleased with the results of their simple, easy to understand report that they provided on our soil samples. Our pH and nutrient problems were identified, which helped me to improve our garden soil and grow better fruits and vegetables. All this for $12, and the data returned in approximately one week. Considering all of the emphasis on buying locally, it is imperative that the Herald check for sources first within our region. In general I would say that we are receiving too much news via syndication and this is one good example.
