The Washington Huskies men’s basketball team added another guard on Wednesday,
officially signing 6-foot-6 junior-college transfer Quevyn Winters on the first day of the
spring signing period.
Winters played last season at Indian Hills Community College (Ottumwa, Iowa) after
playing his freshman season at Duquesne, where he averaged 9.6 points per game as
a freshman.
UW coach Lorenzo Romar describes him as a “dynamic shooter.”
“We’re excited to add Quevyn to our program,” Romar said in a statement released by
the school. “He’ll bring a multitude of intangibles to Seattle as a kid who has a history
of winning. He’s already played Division I basketball and averaged almost 10 points
as a freshman at Duquesne before playing in the junior college national championship
game for Indian Hills. He’s a very good shooter with a lot of experience and we’re
delighted tohave him.”
Winters averaged 11.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game for Indian Hills in 2013-14.
His team played in the NJCAA National Tournament championship game, where it lost.
UW signed Timberline High School guard Donaven Dorsey and Abbotsford, B.C.
forward Tristan Etienne during the early signing period in November.
Due to the transfer of forward Desmond Simmons, the Huskies have one open
scholarship remaining for the 2014-15 season.
