Everett’s Shake ‘n Go a great spot for quick, tasty burger or wrap

Shake ’n Go, a locally owned shop in a Broadway strip mall in Everett, is a good choice for lunch.

Whether you eat in the tidy dining area or order your chow to go, this inconspicuous cafe serves tasty fare quickly.

The small restaurant, between two national chain eateries, offers burgers, wraps, sandwiches, shakes and smoothies. Fish and chips, chili and chicken nuggets, corn dogs, egg rolls and pot stickers are also on the menu.

Their lineup of 24 burgers, from the classic ($6.25) to the salmon burger ($8.95), includes Hawaiian, pastrami, Texas and teriyaki burgers. The 1/3-pound burgers come with fries, and most are dressed with fresh lettuce and tomatoes.

My husband, Tom, ordered a favorite of his, the mushroom burger. Perfectly cooked with melting Swiss cheese and sautéed onions, it was satisfying and he was not disappointed. The fries were unremarkable, but onion rings are an option for an extra dollar, as are sweet potato fries ($3.50).

From the 16 wrap choices, I tried the turkey wrap with cream cheese and cranberry ($6.75). With a generous amount of turkey, lots of fresh lettuce, tomato and the right amount of cream cheese and cranberry, it was delicious. I liked that it was assembled perfectly, tightly wrapped and cut on a diagonal, which made it easy to eat and portable, if I decided to take half home.

Other wrap flavors run the gamut of tastes, such as barbecue chicken, blue cheese steak, Cajun chicken, gyro and teriyaki. At $6.95, these generous wraps are filling and a great quick option for lunch.

Milk shakes ($3.95) in flavors like blackberry, mint and banana are featured, as well as several fruity smoothies ($3.75). Fountain drinks and a large cold case with bottles of Snapple and other beverages nicely round out the beverages.

I think Shake ’n Go is a keeper.
