Weekend fun: Egg hunts, gardening, poetry, swimming, more

Living history: Retired Lt. Col. Ed Saylor, one of only four remaining survivors of the 80 men who flew the first bombing raid on Japan after the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, will visit Paine Field on Saturday. The visit is part of a commemoration by the Historic Flight Foundation of the anniversary of the Doolittle Raid. There will be a flight by a B-25D Mitchell bomber, a talk by Saylor, a film and more. Gardening for kids: Edmonds Floretum Garden Club offers a free gardening workshop for kids ages 7 to 12 from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds. To register, call 425-774-4991. Kids will learn about planting seeds and gardening basics and get to plant something to take home.

Earth Day: Celebrate Earth Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Camano Plaza, 370 NE Camano Drive. There will be free plants, demonstrations and activities for kids.

Prime rhyme: Poets, readers and writers are all invited to a poetry slam of sorts with Washington state’s new poet laureate, Elizabeth Austen, at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mountlake Terrace Library. Recite your own creation or read your favorite verse. Don’t be shy, all ages are welcome. A reception with Austen will follow. The Mountlake Terrace Library is at 23300 58th Ave. W. Signing time: Joseph Flint of Edmonds will sign his new book “Rescue From Innocence” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Cafe Louvre, 210 Fifth Ave. S., No. 101, Edmonds. “Rescue” is historical fiction, an adventure novel inspired by true events.

Robodigits: Imagine Children’s Museum welcomes the Cascade, Glacier Peak and Lynnwood high school robotics clubs for a special event, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 1502 Wall St., Everett. Children can help build a robotic hand. The event is free with museum admission of $9.50.

Super Sisyphus: The ancient Greeks and Romans had superheroes, too, and elementary schoolchildren can learn all about them at a free play from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Call 425-257-8000 for more information.

Splish Splash: All ages can practice water safety skills and have fun at April Pools Day from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at for Forest Park Swim Center, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., Everett. There will be games, kayak rides and more. Bring a canned food donation as your admission.

Pop diva: Gloria Trevi performs at Comcast Arena on Saturday. Trevi, a Latin music diva, has sold more than 20 million records. More info and tickets here. Carlito Olivero, a recent contestant on the XFactor, will open.
