MARYSVILLE — Glacier Peak starting pitcher Callie Bircher pitched a no-hitter, allowing just two baserunners as the Grizzlies defeated Marysville-Getchell in a Wesco 3A league matchup.
“When she gets in a rhythm and she keeps going, shes hard to hit,” Glacier Peak head coach Caitlin Nies said of Bircher. “She’s capable of big things like this.”
Lauren Nicksic batted 2-for-2 with a two-run triple for the Grizzlies, who had four extra base hits in the game.
Bircher recorded just three strikeouts on the afternoon, but Glacier Peak was able to play nearly flawless defense, committing only one error.
“I was really happy with our defense,” Nies said. “We’ve been working hard to get more solid and today was good for us. We were able to execute and make a lot of plays behind (Bircher).”
