DARRINGTON — A two-run double by Andrew Young in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Darrington baseball team a 11-10 victory over Orcas Island Tuesday.
After a leadoff single and a hit-batter started off the inning, Young came through with his second hit of the day to give the Loggers the victory.
“I was feeling well because we started the inning with the top of the lineup,” Darrington head coach Cam Ross said. “I knew if we could get guys on we could get something going.”
The Loggers trailed 5-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth before putting together an eight-run inning. With two outs and the scored tied at 4-4, Orcas Island walked five batters in a row and committed an error to put across four runs for Darrington.
Orcas Island responded with four runs of their own in the top of the seventh to put the game into extra innings.
