LYNNWOOD — Senior Daniel Theis allowed just one hit and struck out seven on the mound and hit an RBI-single in the fourth inning that scored the eventual game-winning run to lead the Mountlake Terrace baseball team to a 2-1 victory over Wesco 3A South opponent Meadowdale.
Moises Valadez went the distance on the mound for the Mavericks, allowing just five hits and striking out five. Kenley Ackerman hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh but the Mavericks were unable to complete the comeback. He finished 3-for-4 at the plate in the loss.
“Both guys did a great job being around the plate,” Meadowdale head coach Bill Hummel said of both pitchers. “Theis was landing his curve ball and kept us off balance all day long. I thought he did an excellent job.”
