BOSTON — New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda has been suspended for 10 games for using pine tar to help him grip the ball.
Pineda says he won’t appeal the penalty issued Thursday by the commissioner’s office. The ban will cost him two starts.
Pineda, a former Seattle Mariner, was ejected in the second inning of Wednesday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox. Boston won, 5-1.
