Why does this not surprise us? On “Suburgatory,” air-headed Dalia (Carly Chaikin) is rejected by the only college to which she applied. Now, her mom (Cheryl Hines) is determined to help Dalia find her true calling. 8:30 p.m., ABC (Channel 4).
Thursday
What, another awards show? Yes, the “iHeartRadio Music Awards” joins the fun with an event at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles that showcases the biggest stars and songs of the year — as determined by fans. 8 p.m., NBC (Channel 5).
Friday
On “Hawaii Five-0,” McGarrett and Catherine (Alex O’Loughlin, Michelle Borth) venture off the island, but not for fun. They’re in Afghanistan trying to rescue a boy whose family saved Catherine’s life years earlier. 9 p.m., CBS (Channel 7).
Saturday
In the new TV film, “A Daughter’s Nightmare,” a college freshman (Emily Osment) worries that the mysterious man (Gregg Sulkin) who has befriended her lonely widowed mother might not have the best intentions in mind. 8 p.m., Lifetime.
