SPOKANE — A 51-year-old woman found dead in the trunk of her car last week in Spokane may have been there for weeks while her daughter and daughter’s boyfriend tried to hide the body.
That’s according to court documents.
Latanya Clara Chapin died of injuries to the head and neck.
Chapin’s daughter, 29-year-old Rachael Colby, told investigators her boyfriend, Juan Sifuentez, beat Chapin to death with a baseball bat in late February, and she helped conceal evidence.
But Sifuentez, who appeared in court Monday on a second-degree murder charge, said Colby stabbed and beat her mother to death, and he helped her clean up the scene.
The Spokesman-Review said a judge ordered the 32-year-old Sifuentez held on $750,000 bond.
A murder charge was also filed against Colby on Monday.
