The only certainty in the Wesco 3A South baseball playoffs is that Shorewood has clinched the league title.
Everything else is up for grabs.
Meadowdale, Glacier Peak and Mountlake Terrace all come into the week with identical 8-7 league records (The Hawks won Monday to improve to 9-7). All three teams are playing crossover games with the Wesco 3A North teams, meaning there could be a three-way tie for second place at the end of the season.
Each team took part in a preseason draw in the event of such a situation, and if the three teams all finish with the same league record Mountlake Terrace would be the 3A South’s No. 2 seed to districts, Glacier Peak would be No. 3 and Meadowdale No. 4.
Mountlake Terrace still has a game against Everett (1-13 league, 1-16 overall), while Glacier Peak plays Marysville Pilchuck (13-2, 15-3) and Marysville Getchell and Meadowdale takes on Oak Harbor (5-10, 5-13) and Stanwood (11-4, 13-5).
In the 3A North, if Marysville Pilchuck and Stanwood finish with the same record, Stanwood would be the No. 1 seed because of a 2-1 advantage in the season series. However, if the Tomahawks win one of their remaining two games against Glacier Peak or Shorewood (13-2, 16-2), they will be league champions.
Ferndale (6-5, 9-9), the only 3A team in the Northwest Conference, will get either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the North. The Golden Eagles are seeded based on their league winning percentage, with a tie going to the Wesco team, which is Marysville Getchell.
4A Wesco
North: Lake Stevens and Snohomish are knotted at 9-5 atop the standings with both teams having two games left to play. The Panthers have a two-game set with Arlington, while Lake Stevens faces Monroe, which, at 6-8, secured a district berth on Friday (The Bearcats own the tiebreaker over Mount Vernon). Arlington (6-8 in league) can secure a district berth with a win in one of its final two games. If the Eagles lose their final two, Mount Vernon will grab the final district berth based on its 3-1 record against Arlington.
South: Cascade (11-2) and Edmonds-Woodway (10-3) have two games against each other to decide the Wesco 4A South title. If Cascade sweeps the series or earns a split, the Bruins will be the No. 1 seed and E-W will be the No. 2 seed. That will be reversed if the Warriors can sweep the series. Jackson grabbed the No. 3 seed over Lynnwood based on its win over the Royals on Monday.
