The Everett Public Library is the place to be next week with authors presenting two good reads.
Jane Kirkpatrick will talk about and sign her book “One Glorious Ambition: The Compassionate Crusade of Dorothea Dix” at 7 p.m. May 13.
Kirkpatrick’s narrative tells the story of 19th century social reformer Dorothea Dix who dedicated her life to helping the mentally ill. Books will be for sale at the event.
On May 17 join “bird boy,” naturalist and adventurer Noah Strycker as he talks about his book “The Thing With Feathers: The Surprising Lives of Birds and What They Reveal About Being Human” at 2 p.m. at the Everett Library.
Strycker has traveled the world to study his favorite subjects. He’ll tell you how homing pigeons go home, why starlings flock as they do and many more surprising facts about our feathered friends.
Both events are free at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Call 425-257-8000 with questions and see www.epls.org for more library events.
