Kamiak High School

Kudos to students for achievements

I would like to congratulate the 2014 Kamiak High School National Merit Scholarship finalists: Hannah Hertzog, Heather Pearson, Margaret Slack, Ryan Vogt and Chris Yi-Hsin Jong. Approximately 15,000 out of 1.5 million students who take the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test achieve finalist status. In 2014, Washington state finalists were chosen based on earning a score of at least 220 out of 240, very high academic performance in all grades nine through 12 and other qualifiers.
I would also like to congratulate the Kamiak National Merit Scholarship Commended students: Dakota Bollinger, Jason Campbell, Tiffany Coons, Ryan Grose, Christine Heisen, Connor Holttum, Kelsey Hovis, Ah Ryeong Jeon, Dong Ho Kim, Hyung Kim, Jun Park, Sun Park, Michael Wanner and Chad Zamzow. Approximately 34,000 of the 50,000 students with high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT are recognized with Letters of Commendation. Students earned commended status by scoring at least 203 out of 240. Score minimums vary from year to year.
The PSAT/NMSQT test includes critical reading, math and writing skills sections.
In addition, congratulations to Ryan Vogt for his perfect 36 American College Test score. I would also like to recognize Ryan Grose who scored 35 on the ACT.
Terrific job to all of these very hard working students! I know many of them personally, and they are amazing. I look forward to seeing what they “become.” I know they will do great things.
