“Fifi,” the only flying B-29 Superfortress, landed Thursday at Paine Field in Everett. It will be on view at the Historic Flight Foundation on the Mukilteo side of the airport through July 6.
Rides in Fifi are available but expensive. The ticket price helps support restoration and operation of vintage airplanes.
The bomber is operated by the Commemorative Air Force, which has restored and operates about 150 vintage aircraft. Thousands of B-29 bombers were built during and after World War II, but Fifi, which was assembled at Boeing’s Renton plant, is the only one still flying.
A group in Kansas has been restoring a second B-29, called Doc, to flying condition, and they expect to have it in the air this summer.
