Monday
“Under the Dome,” last summer’s big spooky-kooky hit, returns with an episode penned by none other than Stephen King, whose 2009 novel started the whole thing. He’s promising “some scary, mind-blowing stuff.” 10 p.m., CBS.
Tuesday
“History Detectives Special Investigations” kicks off Season 11 with a new format that focuses on one iconic mystery per episode. Up first: the 1865 explosion of the SS Sultana, a Mississippi steamboat packed with Union soldiers. 9 p.m., PBS.
Wednesday
The auditions are over and we finally have our Top 20 contestants on “So You Think You Can Dance.” Tonight, they bust their best moves in a two-hour episode. 8 p.m., Fox.
Thursday
On “Hell’s Kitchen” the six remaining chefs head to the University of Southern California, home of the Trojans. Why? To prepare a tailgate feast for gluttonous football fans, of course. 8 p.m., Fox.
Friday
Here’s our big-bang theory: Nothing matches watching fireworks live and in person. But if you happen to be anchored to the couch this year, television has plenty to offer as well. The explosive programming starts with “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular” (8 p.m., NBC), which has Nick Cannon hosting the festivities from New York City. Among the performers are Miranda Lambert, Hunter Hayes and Lionel Richie. Also on tap: “A Capitol Fourth” (8 p.m., PBS). It’s hosted by Tom Bergeron, who welcomes, among others, Frankie Valli, Patti LaBelle and Jordin Sparks to the party on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
Saturday
The fun continues on “Almost Royal” as Georgie and Poppy take in more of the colonies with a visit to Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. There, they learn the art of coffee-making. 10 p.m., BBC America.
