MOUNT VERNON — The Skagit County coroner’s office says a hiker and rescuer died of injuries they suffered in a fall of more than 100 feet at Pilchuck Falls.
Deputy Coroner Matthew Sias identified the 25-year-old hiker Monday as Peder Trettevik, of Stanwood, and the 62-year-old rescuer as J.B. Bryson, of Sedro-Woolley.
Another hiker was rescued in the incident Saturday night as they became separated from their hiking group and tried to make their way down to the falls near Lake Cavanaugh.
A Skagit County Search and Rescue team including Bryson was training nearby and responded to their call for help.
The bodies were recovered Sunday.
