WOODLAND — The Clark County sheriff’s office says the bodies of two apparent drowning victims have been recovered, one near Woodland and one about 20 miles to the east at Yacolt.
Sgt. Fred Neiman says a boater called 911 late Tuesday afternoon to report a body in the North Fork Lewis River in the Woodland area. Divers recovered that man’s body from about 10 feet of water. He was not wearing a life jacket. Neiman says what appears to be the man’s small fishing boat was found caught in some debris just upstream from the body.
On Tuesday evening, the body of a 45-year-old man was recovered from the East Fork of the Lewis River at Moulton Falls in Yacolt. Neiman says witnesses report that a man jumped from the rocks at Moulton Falls into the swirling water. When he didn’t resurface, they called 911.
Divers found his body.
Neither man was immediately identified.
