Independence Day is great day for families.
Kids love a parade and the chance to see a star-spangled fireworks show, most starting at about 10 p.m.
The following is a list of some of the best kid-friendly celebrations in Snohomish County on July 4.
Imagine Children’s Museum: Celebrate from noon to 4 p.m. at 1502 Wall St., Everett, with arts and crafts and activities that include the a state puzzle challenge an American trivia contest and the signing of a larger-than-life copy of the Declaration of Independence. Marco Cortes will be on hand to spread joy through music. Admission is $9.50, which includes all the crafts. Active military families with identification receive free admission.
Everett’s Colors of Freedom: Parade begins at 11 a.m. at Colby and Wetmore avenues. Colors of Freedom Festival follows at Legion Memorial Park with kids’ activities, food, music and the fireworks show over Port Gardner.
Arlington’s Frontier Days Fourth of July: Activities, including the Duck Dash, at Haller Park, 1100 West Ave. Kiddies parade at 4:30 p.m. down Olympic Avenue followed at 5 p.m. by the 119th annual grand parade. Fireworks at Quake Park, 18501 59th Ave. NE.
An Edmonds Kind of Fourth: Children’s parade 11:30 a.m. followed by the main parade at noon in downtown Edmonds. Activities follow at City Park, Third Avenue S., and fireworks and evening entertainment at Civic Stadium, 250 Sixth Ave. N.
Darrington’s Fourth of July Fair: The parade is at noon from the school grounds to Old School Park, 1026 Alvord St., where people can enjoy a show by the New Old Time Chautauqua. Aspiring jugglers and hulahoopers can take a class. Freddy James provides music for dancing or to accompany the balloon toss and turtle race. Fireworks in the football field at Darrington schools.
Stanwood’s Old Fashioned Fourth: The 10:30 a.m. parade from Josephine Sunset Home to the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center is followed by a strawberry and ice cream social, free popsicles and games for children.
