Dempsey on Letterman, Sherman in the top 10, Seahawks set for the future and other Thursday links

We’ll start with futball before we move on to football...

The Sounders won in the US Open Cup quarterfinals last night, though the game was more dramatic than they wanted it to be.

Seattle was without star Clint Dempsey, who should be back with the team this weekend after getting a bit of a post-World Cup break. Part of that break included an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last night.

The NFL Network unveiled the top 10 on its Top 100 players of 2014 list, and Seahawks corner Richard Sherman was ranked No. 7, making him the highest-rated defensive player.

ESPN came up with a list of future power rankings, projecting teams’ success over the next three years. As you might expect, the Seahawks top that list ahead of Green Bay and San Francisco. The article notes that the Seahawks were the only team to rank in the top ten of each of the categories used to determine the rankings: roster, quarterback, draft, front office and coaching.

Sports Illustrated’s Doug Farrar gives the Seahawks a B- for their offseason moves, calling Paul Richardson their biggest addition and Golden Tate the biggest loss.

Do you want Seahawks season tickets? Hope you already have them, because the Seahawks announced yesterday that not only are season tickets sold out, but so too is the waiting list for season tickets.

You still can take a shot at single-game tickets, which go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 21. Those are sure to go fast, however, so be ready.
