MONROE — A 13-year-old girl is recovering from injuries after being struck by a car near Monroe on June 20.
The accident was reported around 6:30 p.m. in the 21000 block of Old Owen Road.
The girl suffered head injuries. She has since been released from the hospital.
Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives don’t expect to seek criminal charges against the driver, agency spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Tuesday.
The girl was in the roadway at the time, Ireton said. The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.
“No drugs or alcohol were involved, and it appears that the driver did everything possible to avoid hitting the victim,” Ireton said.
