Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1964)

Expanded facilities at Snohomish County Evergreen Fair included a huge industrial building, now 64 feet by 200 feet, which would be doubled in size by next year. When completed, it would house 100 booths stressing industrial opportunities in the county with Everett as the honor city.

Marcie Baird soared into the air after leaving a water skiing ramp. She would represent the host Lake Stevens Water Ski Club in the girls' division of the Washington State Water Ski Championships, which would be held this weekend in front of the county beach on Davies Road.

25 years ago (1989)

The Herald open house for the week was at 6117 92nd St. S.W., Mukilteo. It was a “Street of Dreams” style with impeccable construction, Italian flair and an unobstructed 180-degree view of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The 4,000 square-foot home in Olympic Terrace was listed at $599,000.

The state's Centennial Clean Water program had extended for two years a grant to the Tulalip Tribes for water quality research on the Stillaguamish River. This included monitoring water quality and establishing a data base for future conservation planning and management of the Stilly watershed.
